The first of it's kind to do Panoramic Photos off standard dye sublimation media. By using the Auto-rewind function the DS620 uses 6x8 ribbon to print as much as 6x20 panoramic print.
The Auto-Rewind function also means you can use the 6x8 ribbon to print 6x2 cut strips, without wasting the rest of the 6x8 media. The Ds620 simply rewinds the partially used 6x8 media, and prints on the unused sections.
(The overseas model DS620A does not have auto rewind technology)
With a 64Mb spooler memory, the first 6"x4" print takes only 10 sec, and subsequent prints 8.9sec. This means the DS620 achieves a whopping 400 prints per hour, making it one of the fastest in it's class. The DS620 uses Dye Sublimation printing, making it ideal for printing passport photos. Unlike inkjet / deskjet printers it does not create dots to make the image, which are unacceptable for passports.
Dye sublimation uses heat to diffuse the ink directly into a special layer of the paper which is then sealed off for protection against UV, fingerprints and water.
